Details- Incredibly rare antique 1930s/40s Romanian folk waistcoat, with exceptional strategic embroidery believed to ward off evil spirits. Traditionally made and worn by peasant women for festive occasions. These waistcoats became a popular fashion staple amongst the hippies in the late 60s/ early 70s counterculture movement, this particular example is identical to the one featured in the recent fashion and textile museum exhibit, Beautiful People: 1960s counterculture. A true piece of textile history.
